About this project

Clear answers when devices are not clear

What Error Means is an independent reference library built to translate confusing codes and warning lights into responsible next steps.

Why we built it

A code by itself is rarely helpful. People need to know what it means, what they can safely check, and when further troubleshooting would create more risk than value. Our guides are designed around those three questions.

What makes this site different

We do not treat every code as universal. The same letters can mean different things across brands, product families, and model years. Each article identifies its device context, links the primary source used, and calls out the point where model-specific documentation takes priority.

Independent—not a manufacturer

What Error Means is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the brands discussed. Brand names and product marks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the equipment being explained.

Our coverage

Our growing, source-led library covers laundry appliances, dishwashers, printers, Wi-Fi equipment, smart-home devices, thermostats, and HVAC warnings. New clusters are added only when we can maintain the same standard.
