Confirm both faucets are fully open, hoses are not kinked, and inlet screens are not restricted. Many washers require both hot and cold supplies even on a cold cycle.

01

Checks to make in order

1

Open both valves

Turn the hot and cold supplies fully on.

2

Verify household flow

Check a nearby fixture for low pressure or an outage.

3

Inspect hoses

Correct kinks, reversed connections, or a flood-safe hose that has tripped.

4

Check inlet screens safely

Close the valves and unplug the washer before loosening a hose.

Stop point

Stop and get help when

  • A fitting leaks when the valve opens
  • The inlet valve hums but no water enters with good household pressure
  • Water continues entering after the washer is switched off
